Job Description: The Lead Technical Product Manager at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will define project scope, objectives, deliverables, success criteria, schedule, budget, resource needs, and risk mitigation plans. Coordinate and lead cross functional teams (engineering, data, QA, design, finance, operations) through project initiation, development, testing, deployment, and closure. Facilitate risk identification, assessment, mitigation planning, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle. Translate business needs into formal artifacts. Author, prioritize, and maintain product and feature backlogs. Collaborate with engineering and QA to decompose large features into sprint sized stories and ensure readiness for development. Lead data discovery and profiling activities to source, validate, and reconcile data from systems. Define data requirements, mapping rules, transformation logic, and validation checks. Coordinate with engineers to implement transformations and QA tests. Create and deliver dashboards, visualizations, and analytic reports to present findings, drive decisions, and measure data quality. Oversee data migration planning and coordination including sample sets, cutover criteria, reconciliation processes and monitor reconciliation and remediation of exceptions. Define, document, and monitor data quality KPIs and SLA adherence; drive corrective action for data anomalies affecting downstream consumers. Define product vision and multi-year roadmap for multiple related products. Facilitate agile ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives and coach teams on agile best practices to ensure predictable delivery. Author and validate user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases. Mentor and guide cross functional team members, provide technical/product guidance, and act as escalation point for complex functional and technical issues. Define and enforce data governance standards including data lineage, ownership, metadata, retention. Coordinate with legal, compliance, and security teams to ensure data handling meets regulatory and internal policy requirements. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $130,800- $196,200 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field and 6 years of experience as a product engineer (or related occupation) in the institutional investment or financial services industry. Experience must include 6 years of experience with each of the following: (1) working within agile teams and applying agile delivery methodologies including Scrum and Kanban; (2) data analysis, validation, reconciliation, and reporting with hands-on use of BI tools including Power BI, Tableau, Looker and data management platforms; and (3) translating product requirements into technical requirements.
